Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck have recorded a re-imagining of the toilet Lennon song Isolation, and said they hope it helps fans “make sense of the moment”.
The actor, who is additionally a member of the supergroup The Hollywood Vampires, and therefore the Yardbirds musician are collaborating for a previous couple of years on new music and the cover is their first single as a duo.
Depp said: “Jeff Beck and that I recorded this song Isolation last year, like our combat a gorgeous Lennon tune.
“Lennon’s poetry – ‘We’re scared of everyone. scared of the Sun!’ – appeared to Jeff and me especially profound immediately, this song about isolation, fear, and existential risks to our world.
“So we wanted to offer it to you, and hope it helps you create a sense of the instant or simply helps you pass the time as we endure isolation together.”
The song features Depp on vocals, Beck on guitar and his long-time collaborators Vinnie Colaiuta on drums and Rhonda Smith on bass.
Beck said: “Johnny and that I am performing on music together for a short time now and that we recorded this track during our time within the studio last year.
“We weren’t expecting to release it so soon but given all the hard days and true ‘isolation’ that folks are browsing in these challenging times, we decided now could be the proper time to allow you to all hear it.
“You’ll be hearing more from Johnny and me during a few minutes but until then we hope you discover some comfort and solidarity in our combat this Lennon classic.”
